If the Commission determines that public disciplinary action is warranted, it may render a determination to impose one of four sanctions. The Commission may: admonish a judge publicly; censure a judge publicly; remove a judge from office; or retire a judge for disability. In 2003 a Resignation/Stipulation procedure was instituted in which a judge could agree to resign from judicial office, never seek or accept judicial office in the future, and waive confidentiality such that the agreement with the judge would be made public.
