On June 27, 2017, the Court of Appeals suspended Monroe Town Court Justice Lurlyn A. Winchester, with pay, following her arrest for alleged mortgage fraud. On September 14, 2017, the Court issued a decision continuing the suspension without pay. Judge Winchester's term in office expired on December 31, 2017. On April 26, 2018, Ms. Winchester pleaded guilty in federal court on charges that she made false statements in connection with an application for a loan she obtained to purchase a residence in Monroe, NY in order to satisfy a residency requirement of her position as Town Justice, and obstruction of justice. On April 2, 2019, the Court issued a decision removing her from office.
